GLOW partyWhat could be more fun than a GLOW (Go Light Our World) party to start the year off right?

Save the date: Friday, August 26th, from 6 – 8 pm at Dunwoody Springs Elementary School.

For only $3 per person, you’ll enjoy a DJ, dancing and the time of your life! Don’t forget to dress to glow. We will be selling pizza and other fun glow-in-the-dark items.

Adults must accompany children. This is a family event! We look forward to seeing you on the 26th.

Now that the school year has gotten off to a great start, it’s time to get a few fun activities going! Please read on for details!!
Annual Title I Parent Meeting
This Thursday, Aug. 29th at 5:30, Principal Ivy Freeman will share information about:
  • What it means to be a Title I School
  • Your rights as a parent
  • Our school wide goals
  • How Title I funds will be spent
  • Parental Involvement Opportunities this year
CURRICULUM NIGHT will follow immediately after the Title I meeting – THIS Thursday, August 29th from 6:00 – 8:00 –
Learn all about what your child will be learning and what great things our teachers have in store for our children this year!  You will not want to miss this important evening!

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH!

WHEN:  Saturday, September 21st

COST: $2 PER PERSON

Items for Sale include:  Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Pizza, Chips, Drinks, Ice Cream treats
** NO OUTSIDE FOOD ALLOWED!
** ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT, absolutely NO drop-offs!

READ TO LEAD
This September, please encourage your children to read about Heros and Sheros – Real or imaginary, read about people who inspire you to do your best!
There will be a BUBBLE CELEBRATION on Oct. 3rd for all students who complete their Read to Lead calendars by Sept. 30.   We are encouraging families to fill out calendars online at www.dsesread2lead.org, but paper calendars will be accepted.
Let’s make this our year for the most minutes read school-wide!!!
SPIRIT WEAR
We have new spirit wear this year and as usual, they are super cute for the girls and super cool for the guys!! Please click on the following link to view the new styles and **NEW THIS YEAR*, you can place your order and purchase directly through our blog and pay via PayPal! T-shirts are $10 and sweatshirts are $20!

BOX TOPS
We collected over 10,000 Box Tops last year and made over $1,000 for our school!  Help win a pizza party for your child’s classroom!  There are 3 submission deadlines this year:  October 25th, Feb. 21st and May 14th.  The class with the most submitted by each deadline will win a pizza party!
What do you need to do? Simply, continue to cut out Box Top coupons on select groceries and household products into your homeroom teacher.  Ask grandparents and neighbors to collect too! Shop online? Go through www.boxtops4education.com and link to the website of your choice. You will also find a list of participating groceries. Such an easy way to earn money for our school!

Back to School Bash and Movie Event

Dunwoody Springs Elementary School’s Back to School Bash

Bound to be a blast you don’t want to miss! Join your Dunwoody Springs Elementary School community for a family event. Attend with your children to get together with old friends and meet new ones. (No drop offs; all students must be accompanied by an adult.)

Only $2 per person includes all activities:

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted

  • Cake Walk (additional $1)

Food for sale:

No outside food allowed. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs!
